The McLean County Coroner has released more information surrounding a fatal fire from Monday.

Authorities were dispatched to the scene of a structure fire where a female victim was located inside the residence in McLean County’s Dry Grove Township. Deputies removed her from the residence but efforts to resuscitate were unsuccessful.

The victim was identified as Janice L. Morris, 75, of rural Bloomington. Preliminary autopsy results indicate Morris died from carbon monoxide intoxication due to inhalation of smoke from a house fire. Toxicology tests are pending.

This incident remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office, McLean County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Fire Marshall and Danvers Fire Department.

Responding agencies to the structure fire included McLean County Sheriff’s Department, Danvers Fire Department, Bloomington Fire Department and the Normal Fire Department. One deputy was medically evaluated after the incident due to smoke inhalation.
