Probe continues into road rage shooting

An active investigation continues into a possible road rage incident which led to a shooting just south of Pontiac Monday night.
Livingston County Sheriff Ryan Bohm said Wednesday there were no updates to report.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, dispatchers were notified of a shooting victim who was receiving treatment at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. Deputies learned the possible road rage incident started on the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 between Lexington and Chenoa.
The suspect vehicle followed the victim’s vehicle into Livingston County on Old Route 66. When the victim’s vehicle turned east onto Livingston County Road 1600 North from Old 66, the suspect vehicle reportedly fired several shots.
The driver was struck by the gunfire but was able to make it to the hospital safely with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
“This is believed to be an isolated incident and the investigation is ongoing,” said a news release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s Police received assistance from VCOM, Chenoa Police and Illinois State Police.
