Pontiac part of big Route 66 weekend



Pontiac will be the place to be this weekend during the annual Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor Festival which takes place in towns all along the famous highway.


The Greater Livingston County Arts Council is hosting the annual Swinging Bridges Arts Festival Saturday and Sunday in the 200 block of West Madison Street. The Eagle Theater will house artists selling handcrafted, fine art pieces.


Live music, including local favorite The Riker Meneuver, will play until 8 p.m. Saturday and there will be art demonstrations, entertainment and food trucks. Museums will be open both days 9 to 5 with free admission. Pontiac giveaways will be at 209 West Madison.


Odell will feature the historic 1932 Standard Oil gas station along Route 66 with souvenirs, soda and nostalgia for sale. Food options include Café 110 West, Hobart’s on Tremont and Lobo’s Tap.


Dwight is having all-town garage sales Friday through Sunday. A Dwight PTO vendor fair happens Saturday from 9-4 at Lifetime Auto on Route 66. A burger throw down happens 11 to 4 at Lifetime Auto. The Dwight Historical Society Museum will be open in the Historic Depot. The historic Texaco station will be open Saturday and Sunday 9-4. Sunday’s highlights include a car show and food truck fest from 11-5.
