Pontiac man dies in Bloomington crash


A crash in Bloomington Monday resulted in the death of a 36-year-old Pontiac man.


McLean County authorities report Ronald W. Bethard Jr. died from multiple blunt injuries due to his postal service vehicle being struck by a sport utility vehicle. He was reportedly the driver and sole occupant of the postal vehicle. Toxicology tests are pending.


“The circumstances behind this incident are still pending investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office, Bloomington Police Department and the McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team,” said a news release.


Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington said the tragedy is yet another reminder of the dangers present on roadways and that eliminating distractions and following the rules of the road are imperative to improving safety in the community.


Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ashley Drive and Beich Road for the two-vehicle crash shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday. Police requested the Coroner’s Office and Accident Reconstruction Team.
