Paxton teens die in crash

Two Paxton teenagers were killed in a crash that involved a stolen vehicle in Vermilion County.

Joseph Stallone, 19, and Keegynn L. Martinek, 17, died following the wreck Tuesday on Illinois Route 49 in Rankin. Authorities say a 2005 Toyota Camry crashed into the teens’ vehicle. The driver of the stolen vehicle was also killed but a name has not been released.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda schools are mourning the deaths of the two teens as Martinek was going to be a PBL High School senior and Stallone was a 2022 PBL graduate.

The crash remains under investigation and autopsies were planned for this week.
