Obituary: Nussbaum

Oren Dean Nussbaum, 86, Chatsworth, died at 5:57 pm, Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a graveside service and military honors at 11am, Saturday, June 19, 2021 in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be directed to Chatsworth Fire Department.

Mr. Nussbaum was born October 17, 1934 in Forrest; the son of Jeff and Kathryn (Zimmerman) Nussbaum. He married Johanna Kraft-Briscoe December 8, 1984 in Chatsworth. His wife, Johanna survives in Chatsworth. His parents and one sister, Delores Nussbaum preceded him in death.

Other survivors include his children, Betty Jo Beurman of La Mirada, CA; Robin (Gene)Briscoe-Sorey of Fairbury; and Ron Travis (Dawn) Briscoe of Fairbury; 10 grandchildren, Gavin and Garin Sorey, Meghan Briscoe, Macki Dameron, Ian Briscoe, Delayni Dameron, Kris Garcia, Kelley Brandstatt, Kevin Beurman, Kaela Antillon and 13 great grandchildren.

Mr. Nussbaum was a 1952 graduate of Octavia Highschool, Colfax and served our country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1962. Oren was co-owner-operator of Osborne Trucking, Forrest; and retired after 55 years as a truck driver for Diller Tile and later Prinsco of Chatsworth.

“Papa O” was a hardworking and very selfless Man, always putting the needs of others before his own. He was kind, generous and full of love for his family who will miss him deeply. His memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
