New leadership role for Barickman

State Senator Jason Barickman of Bloomington has been elevated in Republican caucus leadership.

The senator will serve as both the new caucus chair and flood leader for Senate Republicans. Barickman had previously served as an assistant Republican leader under the two previous leaders. As caucus chair, he will have a larger role in helping to guide the legislative efforts of the Republican caucus. Also, Barickman will serve as floor leader for Senate Republicans helping to lead debates on issues and legislation that comes before the Senate.

Illinois Senate GOP Leader-Designate Dan McConchie said he is proud and thankful to have Barickman’s expertise as caucus chair and floor leader. Barickman said it was an honor to take a larger role in leadership and that he looks forward to working with colleagues on tackling major issues facing the state.
