Memorial ceremony honors officers

A Ford County deputy sheriff was among the officers honored during a recent Illinois State Police Memorial ceremony in Springfield.

Officers killed in the line of duty last year were recognized during the Illinois Police Memorial Ceremony on the lawn of the State Capitol near the memorial where the names of fallen police are etched. Families attended the event along with officers from all over Illinois.

Those honored included Ford County deputy sheriff Brian Norton, Chicago Police Detective Joe Tripoli, Knox County depty sheriff Donald Weist and Forest Park police officer Nicholas Kozak.
