Voters in McLean County will decide on a proposed one percent County Schools Facility Tax on Tuesday, commonly known as a one-cent tax.
If it passes, this addresses school safety and facility needs in public schools. School districts throughout the county have come together to place the question before local voters. The tax can be used for facility improvements, school safety and support and paying off facility bonds and/or property tax reduction.
Each district in McLean County is expected to receive funding based on the number of students enrolled. Each school district decides how to allocate funding.
The one-cent tax is collected from both county residents and visitors.
