Man hospitalized after vehicle crashes into pond

All lanes of traffic on Interstate 55 were reopened Wednesday after a vehicle entered a pond along Interstate 55 near Lexington earlier in the day.

State Police report Troop 5 officers responded to the passenger vehicle which went off the road at milepost 179 around 6:30 a.m. A male subject was walking away from the vehicle soaking wet, according to police, and advised he had crashed into the water.

The person was transported to an area hospital and no further details were released.
