Man charged after shooting deputies

The Ogle County State’s Attorney has announced several charges against Jonathon Gounaris who is accused of shooting three Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies last week.

Gounaris reportedly barricaded himself in a house after issuing threats to family members. Gunshots were exchanged with police after authorities entered the home and three deputies and Gounaris were struck by gunfire and hospitalized.

Charges against Gounaris include first-degree murder. He was treated and released from the hospital and is currently in custody.
