Lawmakers miss budget deadline
State lawmakers have missed their budget deadline so both the Illinois House and Senate are now scheduled to return to Springfield Wednesday to finish work during the spring session.
Democratic leaders had set last week as the adjournment but a spending plan has yet to surface. House Republicans say they have been left out of negotiations and want a seat at the table.
Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer of Jacksonville says the days of getting the budget at the last minute with no time to review it need to be over.
