Juveniles arrested in Pontiac gun incident

Two Pontiac juveniles were arrested after a gun incident last week near Jaycee Park.
Pontiac Police responded to a report of possible gunshots in the 1400 block of East Howard Street the evening of May 8 and a group of juveniles was observed walking in the area. One began to run as police approached but was ultimately located, according to authorities.
“It was learned this juvenile had thrown a firearm into a nearby yard,” said a Pontiac Police news release. “A handgun was recovered by police.”
After an investigation, it was determined a handgun was being fired in a wooded area around Jaycee Park. Two were taken into custody. An 11-year-old was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and a 13-year-old with reckless discharge of a firearm.
The charges have been referred to Livingston County Court Services and Pontiac Police detectives continue to investigate the incident.
