Illinois State names new AD

NORMAL – Illinois State University has a new athletic director.

University President Larry Dietz announced the appointment of Kyle Brennan to the position on Wednesday. Brennan previously served as Utah’s chief operating officer and deputy athletics director for internal operations. He officially begins his position with ISU in mid-January.

“I am grateful for this incredible opportunity and for the confidence that President Dietz and the committee have shown in me to lead the Illinois State Athletics Department,” Brennan said in a news release from the university.

Brennan will be ISU’s 12th athletic director in its Division I era for the NCAA. President Dietz said Brennan’s skills and leadership make him an excellent fit for Illinois State and his attitude complements a diverse and well-rounded background. Dietz also thanked current AD Larry Lyons for pushing back his retirement to allow for a smooth transition.

“We want to win,” notes Brennan. “It is a priority of mine that we generate enthusiasm and energy in our department to embrace that challenge. Our student-athletes deserve that from us and our fans expect us to compete for Missouri Valley championships and national exposure.”
