Girls basketball season tips off

The Pontiac girls basketball season is underway with the annual Bank of Pontiac Turkey Tip-Off.

The Indians dropped the first two games of the week, falling to Limestone 69-34 on Monday and to PND 72-28 Tuesday. The Pool B action continues Thursday evening at Pontiac as PTHS will battle St. Bede at 7 p.m. Also, PND will take on Limestone at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

In other action this week from Pontiac, PND defeated St. Bede 74-28 and Limestone beat St. Bede 50-27.

In Pool A at Prairie Central High School, Ottawa defeated Mahomet-Seymour 53-36, East Peoria won over Prairie Central 51-42, Mahomet defeated East Peoria 55-48 and Ottawa beat Prairie Central 55-13. The PC girls battle Mahomet Thursday at 7 p.m. while Ottawa meets East Peoria Thursday at 5:30.

The championship games from both pools will be played at Pontiac High School this Saturday. We plan to have live coverage of Pontiac girls basketball from the PTHS gym Saturday.
