Fornero named HCC center director

Heartland Community College has appointed April Fornero as Director of the Pontiac Center.

Fornero will lead the strategic planning and operations of Heartland Community College Pontiac (HCCP). She will direct, develop, and enhance external relationships in the Livingston County area to promote the College and support students, programs, and services.

“I have worked with many administrators in my time at Heartland, and April demonstrates the leadership characteristics I know will serve the Pontiac Center and the Pontiac-area community well,” said Sarah Diel-Hunt, Vice President, Enrollment and Student Services. President Keith Cornille added that “Heartland is dedicated to providing innovative learning opportunities and resources uniquely designed for the Pontiac area. April’s experience and commitment to the community make her the perfect leader to continue that mission and engender future successes.”

Fornero, a Pontiac resident, has served as Interim Director of HCCP since August of 2023, when she was appointed to fill in the vacancy left by former Director Stacey Shrewsbury. Previously serving as Director of Continuing Education Programming and Scheduling, Fornero’s appointment marks a permanent transfer into the position at Pontiac.

Joining Heartland in the position of Continuing Education Programming Analyst in 2016, Fornero holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees from Illinois State University. She is also a Heartland Community College graduate, earning her Associate of Science degree in 2014.
