Festival weekend a success in Pontiac

Downtown Pontiac was hopping over the weekend with the annual Swinging Bridges Arts Festival held in conjunction with the Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor event.
West Madison Street featured food trucks, demonstrations, live entertainment and vendors.
“It’s a great crowd and the weather – whoa – thank goodness,” said Liz Vincent, director of Community Enrichment for the City of Pontiac.
The Eagle Theater housed artists selling handcrafted fine art pieces. New businesses had the chance to show off what they have to offer, sidewalk chalk was seen on sidewalks and a touch-a-truck event was located across from the Livingston County Law and Justice Center.
Many classic cars were spotted downtown as people cruised up and down Route 66 for the weekend.
“The Red Carpet extends from Joliet all the way down to Bloomington and it’s a linear festival of 100 miles,” added Vincent.
