Ellsworth man died of gunshot wounds

A 41-year-old Ellsworth man is being identified as the man who was shot in McLean County earlier this week.

Daniel J. Shelby was pronounced dead at the scene in Ellsworth Wednesday and the McLean County Coroner’s Office said he died of multiple gunshot wounds. Toxicology tests are pending and the incident remains under investigation.

Agencies handling the investigation include the McLean County Coroner’s Office, McLean County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police.
