Car lands in water in Woodford County

A 20-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries after his vehicle reportedly crossed the median on Interstate 74 in Woodford County before landing in water.

The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls from the incident Monday and once deputies arrived on the scene, it was determined the vehicle was eastbound on the Interstate at mile marker 111.

“Witnesses stated the vehicle crossed the median and opposite lanes of traffic and went into the water,” said a news release from Woodford County Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword.

The road was blocked for several minutes while Life Flight was on the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
