Balloons lead to outage

CHATSWORTH – Power was out for much of the afternoon this past Tuesday for about a thousand Livingston County Ameren customers.

Officials say Mylar balloons were stuck to equipment near an electrical substation in Chatsworth, which is located in the eastern part of the county. A few fuses were blown causing significant damage.

It was after 1 p.m. when the utility customers around Chatsworth and Cullom lost power.
