Area July 4 activities planned
You might want to check out these area Fourth of July celebrations over the weekend for fireworks, parades and fun.
CHENOA:
The theme is “Together or Apart, We Celebrate America in our Hearts.” The July 3 street dance is downtown in the evening with a pork chop dinner along with the Women’s Club ice cream social and contest winner announcements. Free music by Brushville is featured during the dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. July 4 highlights include a flea market, cruise-in, parade at 2 p.m. and fireworks at dusk.
TOWANDA:
The 53rd annual Towanda Fourth of July celebration will have numerous events. July 3 is the HCE supper to-go, fireworks and honorary spotlight. The July 4 events include a flea market, food concessions and parade at 10 a.m.
SIBLEY:
“Home Town Heroes” is the theme for the Sibley Area Fourth of July. A big day is planned July 4 with breakfast by the lake, a fishing derby, old fashioned children’s games, a foam machine party for children, model airplanes and boat show, and a parade at 11:30 a.m. The night features entertainment by The Sophie Hafer Band and the famous fireworks show at dusk.
PAXTON:
The 37th annual Paxton July Fourth celebration happens at Pells Park with a big day planned for the “Paxton Old-Fashioned Fourth of July.” The Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce will present the Do or Dye 5K Color Run, a car show will be held and the kid zone will be open. A watermelon eating contest starts in the afternoon along with the car show awards. Fireworks are presented at dusk at Bixby Park, sponsored by the City of Paxton.
