8-year-old dies in crash

A multi-vehicle crash on I-74 in McLean County last week resulted in the death of an eight-year-old boy.

The crash occurred near mile market 139 on the interstate around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

McLean County Coroner Dr. Kathleen Yoder reports preliminary autopsy opinion indicates the boy died from multiple blunt injuries due to a sport utility vehicle and delivery van collision, sustained as a passenger in the SUV.

The incident remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.
