Two arrested for gun offenses


Bloomington Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit has arrested two men for gun offenses from unrelated investigations.

Javares L. Hudson, 20, of Bloomington was arrested without incident in the area of the 1600 block of east Empire Street on offenses relating to unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A firearm was reportedly recovered at a hotel on east Empire Street on Sept. 1. Hudson is being held at the McLean County Jail with a $150,000 bond.

Police also arrested Kenyon J. Bones, 18, of Bloomington the same day during an unrelated traffic stop near Low and Miller streets. Bones was arrested for felony unlawful possession of a firearm. Authorities say the firearm was recovered during a search warrant served at an apartment in the 800 block of east Washington Street. Bones is also being held at the McLean County Jail, with the bond amount not available at this time.

BPD’s Street Crimes Unit primarily focuses on preventing violent crimes by enforcing crimes related to shootings, weapons possession, drug possession and other violent crimes.
