Gridley woman, others die in wreck

Three people died in a two-vehicle fatal wreck in Woodford County early Saturday morning involving an ambulance.

State Police say Morgan Ryder, 20, of Gridley was driving a 2016 silver Chevrolet south on County Road 2400 East, approaching Illinois Route 116, while a 2014 ambulance driven by Joe Delgado, 42 of LaSalle was traveling west on Route 116. Ryder reportedly drove into the path of the ambulance, causing the ambulance to strike the automobile on the driver’s side.

Ryder died from injuries sustained in the wreck, along with two passengers in her vehicle: Jared Seggerman, 19, of Minonk and Seth Unruh, 19, of Pattonsburg, Illinois. Another passenger, Blake Hert, 21, of Minonk was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Delgado was hospitalized for his injuries.

Passengers in the ambulance involved included a 78-year-old Ottawa woman, who was a patient being transported, and Sarrina Stewart, 25, of Earlville, Illinois. There is no word on their conditions.

According to State Police, the roadway was closed for six hours during the traffic crash investigation and all lanes were expected to reopen by 8 a.m. Saturday.
