State Police have announced results of a roadside safety check held during the late night hours of Friday, July 3 and the early morning of Saturday, July 4.

The detail took place on Route 9 at Baer Road in Tazewell County by District 8 officers. There were two total citations or arrests and two written warnings.

Authorities say alcohol is involved in nearly 40 percent of fatal crashes in the state and the checks are designed to remote alcohol-impaired drivers. When other violations are observed, like driving with a suspended license or operating a vehicle without valid registration, action may be taken.
