Local man arrested in Tennessee

A man was arrested in Nashville, TN on several Illinois warrants out of McLean County.

Joseph T. Thornton III, 49, of Bloomington, was arrested for his involvement in a shooting which occurred June 3 in the 800 block of east Washington Street in Bloomington. The warrants were for attempted murder with the intent to kill or injure, aggravated battery, discharge of a firearm, felony possession of a weapon, and unlawful use of weapons.

Thornton is being held at the Davidson County Jail in Nashville, awaiting extradition to McLean County.

Back in June, local police located a 37-year-old man with gunshot injuries. The man was reportedly shot outside during an argument. The victim, who was transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, is believed to have life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
