Man rescued from trench

The Pontiac Fire Department and Duffy Ambulance Service were called to 702 Countryside Lane at 3:19 p.m. Wednesday for a person trapped in a hole.

Upon arrival, Pontiac Fire found an adult male trapped in a trench hole from the waist down. Another adult male was inside the trench hole attempting to free the victim.

Pontiac Fire Command requested a rescue box alarm that included MABAS 41 and 25 Technical Rescue Teams due to the complexity of the rescue. Patient was rescued from the trench at 7:16 p.m. and was transported to OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center and then taken to OSF Saint Francis in Peoria by OSF Life Flight. Pontiac Fire Department was assisted on scene by Duffy Ambulance Service, Pontiac Police Department, Pontiac Wastewater and Treatment Plant, Pontiac Street Department, Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, Forrest Fire Rehabilitation Unit, MABAS 41 Technical Rescue Team, MABAS 25 Technical Rescue Team, OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center EMS Department, and OSF Life Flight. Cullom and Flanagan-Graymont Fire Protection Districts, as well as, South East Livingston County Ambulance Service (SELCAS) provided emergency coverage during the rescue operation for the City of Pontiac and the Pontiac Rural Fire Protection District.

LS Building Products , H J Eppel & Company, and Opperman Construction provided additonal supplies and equipment to rescue personnel during the event. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]

At the time of the press release the Pontiac Fire Department had no additonal information on the status of the patient.
