Dwight High School teacher arrested

DWIGHT – A Dwight High School teacher has been arrested on charges of criminal sexual assault by an authority figure.

Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress says the charges involve an underage male victim who is a student at the school. Kathryn Patten, 34, was arrested at her residence in rural Dwight Friday evening prior to being charged with criminal sexual assault and posting bond after appearing before a judge over the weekend.

“Due to the victim’s age and the circumstances, detectives would not be releasing any further information at this time,” said a statement from the Livingston County Sheriff.

The sheriff’s office initially received the call from the Dwight Police Department and the investigation is ongoing with additional charges possible, according to authorities.

Childress thanks the Livingston County State’s Attorney, Dwight Police and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for their assistance with the investigation.
