Flooding a headache for many

This week’s flooding is causing all types of issues across Central Illinois.
The Vermillion River at Pontiac continues to rise, prompting street and park closures in certain parts of the city. A Tazewell County squad car was swept away by floodwaters, the golf course in Fairbury is covered with water and the Illinois and Mississippi rivers are rising as well. School districts including Ridgeview and Flanagan-Cornell cancelled classes on Wednesday due to the rising floodwaters.
Flood warnings are in effect for many of the rivers in the state along with several creeks. A flash flood watch was issued for much of Central Illinois from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
