Obits: Corban, Slagel


Phyllis Corban, 86 of Chatsworth, died on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa. Cremation rites have been accorded and memorial services will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Chatsworth United Methodist Church, with Barb Schlatter officiating. Burial will follow in Chatsworth twp. Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to her services also at the church in Chatsworth on Saturday. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. Memorials contributions may be directed to the family or the Chatsworth United Methodist Church, Chatsworth.

Phyllis was born on February 24, 1933 in rural Piper City, IL the daughter of Howard and Lillian (Drilling) Pearson. She married Gene Corban on March 23, 1952 in Chatsworth. He passed away August 15, 2012. Her parents also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons: Larry (Joy) Corban of Streator, IL; and James (Debra) Corban of Greeley, CO; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; her brother: Glenn (Zoe) Pearson of Lafayette, IN; and one sister: Marilyn Fortna of Fairbury.

Phyllis was a member of Chatsworth United Methodist Church. She worked at The Citizen’s Bank of Chatsworth as a teller for most of her life. She enjoyed arts & crafts, collectibles, and spending time with her family.

Luci Slagel:

Luci G. (Kaeb) Slagel, 53, Forrest, passed away at 3:20 am Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

Luci was born August 6, 1965 in Watseka, IL the daughter of Norman and Kathryn (Young) Kaeb. She married Paul Slagel on November 12, 1988 in Cissna Park. He survives in Forrest.

Other survivors include her children, Kayla (Trent) Kilgus, Fairbury, Andrea (Eric) Schurter, Salem, Oregon, Lyndon Slagel, Fairbury, Kinzie Slagel, Forrest, two grandsons, Ryker and Nolan Kilgus, father, Norman Kaeb, Cissna Park, siblings, Debra Kaeb, Brian (Elizabeth) Kaeb, Terry (Joanne) Kaeb, Warren (Jill) Kaeb, Maria (Robin) Stadeli, Katrina (Joel) Kuenzi, and Chris (Anna) Kaeb.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Kaeb.

Private visitation for close friends and family will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury followed by a private burial in East Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury on Tuesday.

Luci was a member of the German Apostolic Christian Church in Fairbury. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by many.
