DeWitt ZBA rejects project

CLINTON - The Zoning Board of Appeals in DeWitt County has voted 5-1 to make a recommendation against TradeWind Energy's special use permit for the proposed wind farm in the northern part of the county.

The decision follows more than 30 hours of testimony from around 100 witnesses during several previous hearings. The permit now goes before the DeWitt County Board which will consider it this spring. The county's Regional Planning Commission also came out with a negative recommendation on the matter.

Some ZBA members claimed there were too many questions which needed to be addressed before a positive recommendation could be issued.
