Lyons remembered for full life


PONTIAC – A well-known Pontiac man is being remembered for living a full life, active in many organizations within the community.

Louis E. “Louie” Lyons died Sunday at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. Lyons opened his own insurance agency in 1962 and was elected Pontiac Township Supervisor in 1969, a role he would hold until his retirement in 2017. Lyons had also served on the Livingston County Board and became a real estate broker, opening his realty business in 1978.

Lyons also served on the local Humiston Trust since 1983. He received the Business Person of the Year honor in 2010 and Citizen of the Year in 2004. He was involved with Mid-Central Community Action and was a Pontiac Elks member for over 60 years.

Funeral services are planned for Thursday (Mar. 14) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac starting at 10:30 a.m. with burial at a later time at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A visitation is planned for Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
