BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Board has re-elected its chairman to another term.

John McIntyre won unanimous approval during the board’s reorganizational meeting in Bloomington Monday morning.

“Thanks for expressing your confidence in me. I truly appreciate that,” McIntyre said. “We all want to work together and we all understand that.”

Jim Soeldner was chose as vice-chairman.

“I hope to work with all of you to the best of my ability. Thanks for the support,” he said.

Chief Judge Mark Fellheimer administered the oath of office to the sheriff, county clerk and treasurer before swearing in the county board members. Fellheimer noted the ceremony signifies a “breath of new enthusiasm” and a sign of moving forward.

In one of the more interesting moments of the meeting, the board decided to move the meeting times to 5:30 p.m. starting in January following a lengthy discussion on the matter. Meetings are currently held at 9 a.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the Government Center.

“It’s not about transparency, it’s more about accessibility,” explained District 7 board member Jacob Beard.

“We can re-evaluate it and see what you think,” added Chairman McIntyre.

The board also approved the chairman’s various committee appointments.
