So much to see in one place

PONTIAC – Dave Herz has seen plenty of tractors over the years but the president of this weekend’s Threshermen’s Reunion near Pontiac has never seen so many orange tractors in one place.

The “Gathering of the Orange” is taking place at the event to honor the Allis-Chalmers tractor brand. There are people at the show from Washington who drove well over 2,000 miles.

“I’ve got four here from North Carolina and I’ve got tractors here from Georgia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Missouri,” Herz said.

It amazes Herz that the individuals took time out of their busy schedules to be a part of the show.

“We just appreciate anybody that would want to come in and see the show.”

The working farm show includes wheat threshing and corn shelling demonstrations among other events. Herz notes that a show such as this cannot run without volunteers, as many people put in their time.

The Threshermen’s Reunion runs through Labor Day north of Pontiac along Route 23. The big Threshermen’s Parade steps off Sunday afternoon at 1:15 in downtown Pontiac.
