Outreach event planned in Gibson
To show support for Gibson City, several churches and organizations are coming together to “pour out” into the community.
Participating groups include: Gibson Area High School Interact, Gideons, Knights of Columbus, Gibson City Police Department, Gibson Area Fire Department, Gibson Area EMTs, American Legion, FFA, Rotary, Boy Scouts, Lions Club, American Lutheran Church, First Christian Church, First Presbyterian Church, Gibson City United Methodist Church, Gibson City Bible Church, New Beginnings Church, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
You’ll find volunteers washing windshields at Casey’s and FS; bagging groceries at County Market; conducting a paper and household products drive to benefit Emergency Food Pantry at the Shepherd’s Closet and the Gibson Area Food Pantry; collecting items for care packages being sent to members of our active duty military; serving at our local food pantry; helping with home repairs, yard work, painting projects; cleaning at Shepherd’s Closet; helping Moyer Library; making cards for our various churches to send throughout the year; passing out cookies to everyone we meet; tying quilts that will be sent to refugees and the homeless; singing at Heritage, the Annex, and Villas of Holly Brook; and offering prayers for our schools, city officials, police, fire, and ambulance services as well as for anyone who would like to come to the park for comfort.
They also plan to make a “Heritage Video” of memories shared from so many of the residents inGibson City. On Sunday, everyone is invited to join the fellowship at the North Park Pavilion for a pork loin sandwich luncheon starting at noon. After lunch, anyone is welcome to “pour out” into the community to finish the work.
Anyone interested in participating should contact Cynthia Davis at 217-784-5444, or any of the Pastors at the various churches.
