Obituary: Hendershott

Shirley S. Hendershott, 65, of Pontiac, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018, at 9:10 a.m. at Accolade Healthcare of Pontiac in Pontiac.

Her service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Pontiac with Pastor Tim Hubert officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley was born October 21, 1952, in rural Broughton Township, Livingston County, IL to Lee and Mae (Becker) Owens. She married LeRoy J. Hendershott on February 14, 1989, in Pontiac, IL. He is deceased.

She is survived by her brother, LeRoy (Linda) Owens of Pontiac, IL; sisters, Betty (Charles) Edwards of Springfield, IL and Mary Lou (Kelly) Jones of Pontiac, IL; nephews, Kelly Jones, Roy Kennedy, Archie Kennedy, David Owens, and Raymond Owens; 3 great nephews; and 2 great nieces.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Nicholas and Elizabeth Becker; parents; husband; brother, Vernon Owens; and niece, Lisa Marie Owens.

Shirley attended Tri Point High School in Cullom, IL. She enjoyed working at A&W Root Beer Drive In, and through Futures, she enjoyed working as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Shirley was a very active member of First Lutheran Church in Pontiac. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She loved participating in all of the activities at Accolade Healthcare.

Memorials may be made to the Activities Fund at Accolade Healthcare or to First Lutheran Church.
