PONTIAC – If you’ve ever wanted to chat with a former NBA player, you’ll have the chance later this month.

Retired NBA player Mark Aguirre will help raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County during a visit to Pub 13 in Pontiac Sunday, Aug. 26. Food, autographs and pictures start at noon with Aguirre’s live NBA radio show starting at 1 p.m.

“We want a huge audience,” explains event organizer Mark Myre. “Mark wants to take questions live with that show.”

Aguirre was chosen as the first overall pick of the 1981 NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks after playing at DePaul University for three years. He played in the NBA until 1994 and won two championships with the Pistons after being traded from Dallas.

“He was the all-time scorer at DePaul. He could light it up with anybody – one of the pure shooters of the game,” adds Myre. “The greatest thing about Mark is he’s giving back.”

Tickets for the Aug. 26 event are $25. For more information, call 815-258-6201.
