Chenoa woman dies in wreck

LEXINGTON – A Chenoa woman has died following a fatal wreck on the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 near Lexington Friday.

McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis reports the 25-year-old driver of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday and the woman’s name is being withheld pending notification of family. Davis says there was a second occupant in the vehicle who is being treated at an area hospital.

The incident, which occurred at mile marker 177 of the interstate, remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police. Responding agencies included the fire departments from Normal, Lexington and Towanda along with McLean County Sheriff’s Police and State Police.
