Obituary: Kenneth Sykes


Kenneth “Steve” Sykes, 63 of Pontiac, formerly of Chenoa passed away at 6:32 pm, Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his residence in Pontiac.

Per Steve’s request cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a celebration of his life and a private family graveside inurnment in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery, Chenoa; at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family of Kenneth S. Sykes.

Kenneth was born October 19, 1954 in Pontiac; a son to Melvin and Marjorie (Ross) Sykes. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Jessi Myers of Pontiac; two granddaughters, Audrey and Adriann Sutton both of Pontiac; two sisters, Debra (John) Clardy and Juli (Sykes) Poshard both of Pontiac; and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

“Steve” was a 1972 graduate of Chenoa High School. He had an eye for art and graphic design. His love and talent for art and design lead him to a career with the Pantagraph in Bloomington - Normal for many years. Due to numerous health issues, Steve became confined to the home of his sister Juli, who has cared for him the past 10 plus years. He loved his family who will miss him deeply.
