Teen arrested after shots fired incident
On Monday, May 7, 2018, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Bloomington Police Officers responded to the 300 block of Riley Drive for multiple reports of shots fired.
A 20-year-old male reported he was parked inside of a vehicle, along with four of his friends when they heard several gunshots strike their vehicle. No injuries were reported at the scene.
Officers arrived in the area and several witnesses reported hearing several gun shots and a white SUV speeding through the area. The vehicle was last seen driving west.
A short time later, officers located a white SUV and effected a traffic stop near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Clearwater Avenue. A 16-year-old male fled the traffic stop, while holding onto a handgun. Officers conducted a search of the area and recovered a stolen handgun. The 16-year-old juvenile male was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
The juvenile was transported to the McLean County Juvenile Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing, Detectives are investigating the two incidents to determine if they are related.
