Firefigher, dog injured in fire
Around 2 p.m. Monday, the Bloomington Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a structure fire on the 600 block of E. Front.
The Bloomington Fire Department arrived on scene less than 5 minutes after the initial 911 call and reported flames through the roof and a balcony of a 3-story home consisting of 7 apartments.
The call was upgraded to a Box alarm which provided an additional ambulance and engine from BFD and an engine from NFD. First arriving crews conducted fire suppression and started to search the 7 apartments in the building. While fire crews were conducting an interior search, the building owner advised that all 8 occupants were out of the structure. BFD and NFD continued with fire suppression efforts and the fire was declared under control at 3:35pm.
One firefighter transported via BFD ambulance with minor injuries to a local hospital. One dog pulled from the house was administered oxygen by BFD and transported by BPD to a local animal hospital. The American Red Cross has been notified of the 8 occupants who will need assistance.
The estimated damage at $125,000.
