Ford County police activity
PAXTON - The following is a recent listing of criminal activity handled by the Ford County Sheriff's Department. Ford County Sheriff Mark Doran reminds the public all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
04-02/ a sheriff’s deputy responded to a fight in progress between two males in Cabery. The suspects were gone on the deputy’s arrival.
04-02/ a sheriff’s deputy responded to a car verses deer crash at Route 115 & 2200N rural Piper City. No injuries were reported
04-02/ a sheriff’s deputy assisted Paxton PD with a domestic disturbance in Paxton.
04-03/ a sheriff’s deputy responded to a car verses deer crash at Route 9 & 1100E rural Elliott. No injuries were reported.
04-04/ a sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of burglary from a motor vehicle in Piper City.
04-05/ a sheriff’s deputy responded to take a criminal damage to property report in Cabery. Vehicle tires were slashed in the incident.
04-07/ sheriff’s deputies responded to a two vehicle crash at 900N & 325E rural Sibley. A Ford Escort struck an FS fertilizer delivery truck head on. The driver of the FS truck was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The front seat passenger of the car was extricated and airlifted to Carle Hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash is still under investigation by the Ford County Sheriff’s Office and results from the Illinois State Police Crash Reconstructionist are pending.
04-08/a sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of burglary from a motor vehicle in Piper City.
04-09/a sheriff’s deputy served an arrest warrant on a Piper City resident and transported him to the Ford County Jail.
04-09/a sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop at Route 47 & 1100N rural Sibley. The driver was arrested for an in-state warrant and transported to the Ford County Jail.
04-11/ a sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop at Route 47 & 50N rural Gibson City. The driver was arrested for driving while license suspended and transported to the Ford County Jail.
04-12/ sheriff’s deputies responded to a three car crash at Route 9 & 1000E rural Elliott. No injuries were reported.
04-14/ a sheriff’s deputy assisted the Illinois State Police with two motorists in the ditch on I-57. One at milepost 258 and another at the 259.

04-14/sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop in the village of Melvin. The driver of the vehicle ran from the stop and a foot pursuit began. Deputies caught up to the subject and arrested him for driving while license revoked and resisting arrest.
04-15/a sheriff’s deputy responded to a single vehicle crash at Route 47 & 700N rural Gibson City. Minor injuries were reported.
