SIBLEY – The Ford County Sheriff has released more information on a fatal wreck which occurred Saturday morning.
Around 7:44 a.m., authorities responded to the two-vehicle crash with injuries and entrapment at 900 North and 325 East roads. The crash involved a black Ford Focus which was heading east when it crossed the road into the path of westbound FS fertilizer delivery truck. Police say the vehicles struck head-on. The Ford Focus was driven by Dylan Benningfield, 17, and his younger brother, Logan Benningfield, 15, was a front seat passenger. Both were from rural Sibley. The driver of the fertilizer truck, Randall Mauser, 59, of Saunemin was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Dylan Benningfield was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ford County Deputy Coroner while Logan Benningfield was removed from the vehicle and airlifted to Carle Hospital with serious injuries.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, according to the Ford County Sheriff and the incident remains under investigation.
