Rosella C. “Rosie” Duffy, 90, of Pontiac, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 10:37 a.m. at Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac with Father David Sabel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pontiac.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.
Rosie was born July 28, 1927 in Pontiac, IL to Matthew L. and Rebecca E. (Mowry) Nolan. She married James Francis Duffy on June 22, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac. He survives in Pontiac.
Also surviving are her children, Joseph F. (Janet) Duffy of Metamora, IL and Steven G. (Joan) Duffy of Pontiac, IL; sister, Rita Nolan Tibbs of Pontiac, IL; and grandchildren, Jessica (Rob) King, Janelle Duffy, Katherine Duffy, and Kevin Duffy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leo Nolan, Francis Nolan, Mattie Nolan, and Jim Nolan; and sisters, Mary Mies and Margaret Somers.
Rosie was a graduate of Pontiac Township High School and the University School of Beauty in Bloomington, IL. She worked the farm her entire lifetime with her husband, Jim, by her side and was a part-time beautician.
Rosie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac, IL, a member of the St. Mary’s Women’s Guild, and a longtime participant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Perpetual Adoration. She had a love of farming. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Livingston County Farm Bureau where she served on the Board for over 30 years. Rosie was a very important part of and recognized for her contribution to the Illinois Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom Fundraiser. In 2007, she was honored with the Livingston County Volunteer of the Year Award.
Memorials may be made to Evenglow Lodge Employee Christmas Fund, St. Mary’s Catholic School, and the Livingston County Farm Bureau Scholarship Foundation.

Nan Opperman-Hibsch, 59, Fairbury came to peace on March 2, 2018.
She is survived by her mother, Betsy Davis; two children, Gared (Samantha) Pogue; Jeri (Bill) Eulitt; two grandchildren, Zoie Eulitt and Dakota Austin; one brother, Lee (Linda) Opperman; one sister, Beth Hall and four nephews.
Nan was a friend to many and was in the community for 25 years. She was a beautician for 36 years and once managed REGIS in Bloomington and also owned her own business in downtown Fairbury. Over those 36 years she was very fortunate to have established a great clientele that she wanted to be sure they all know how much she appreciated their friendship and loyalty!
An extra big thank you for all the support and all the people that helped make Mom’s benefit happen! The way this community comes together in times of need really makes me grateful for small town living!
We love you to the moon and back Mom!
