James Cahill:

James F. Cahill, 78, of Pontiac, formerly of Ransom for over 50 years, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at 12:05 a.m. at Good Samaritan Home in Pontiac.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac with Father Adam Cesarek officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Ransom.

Visitation will be Monday, February 19, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.

James was born August 10, 1939 in Streator, IL to Arthur L. and Dorothy M. (Raibley) Cahill. He married Donna Fogarty on April 4, 1959 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Odell. She survives in Pontiac.

He is survived by his children, Diane (Gregg) Jensen of Dwight, IL, Jim (Jan) Cahill of Ransom, IL, and Dick (Donna) Cahill of Ransom, IL; sister, Anna Mae Funk of Dwight, IL; grandchildren, Brian Jensen, Brad (Jennifer) Jensen, Kevin (Jodi) Jensen, Jessica (Ben) Beyer, Julie (Steve Anderson) Cahill, Jamie Cahill; and 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents.

James was a graduate of Dwight High School, Class of 1956. He was the Owner/Operator of Cahill Trucking for 48 years and farmed his entire life. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac, the Moose, Farm Bureau, and 40 year member of Midwest Trucker’s Association.

Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice and St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School.

Edward Guse:

Edward H. Guse, 90, of Colfax, passed away at 7:40am, February 15, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Cremation has been accorded. Friends may greet the family from 1-3:00pm, Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor. A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm, on Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Anchor. Pastor Ed Huddelson will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Edward was born December 16, 1927, in Sibley, the son of Otto Carl and Nellie Elizabeth Berlet Guse.

He first married Noal Dean Harrison. She died January 6, 1987. He then married Betty McWhorter. She died in 1974. He last married Mary Unger. She died September 7, 2017.

Surviving are his daughters, Susan (Leland) Lott of Dow and Deanna Biehl of Colfax; step-children, Beverly Harrison of KY, Wilma Bennett of Paxton, Kellie Cook of Thomasboro, Teresa Smith of Ky, and James (Judy) Harrison of Rantoul; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter, Lenora Clark, three sisters and one infant brother. Ed was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Cropsey Grade and High School in 1946. He worked for the Colfax Grain Elevator from 1955-1990.

Mayreta Weber:

Mayreta L. Weber, 89 of Chenoa, died at 9:02 pm, Friday, February 16, 2018 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.

Her funeral will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa. Burial will take place at 1 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in Pin Oak Cemetery, Sims, IL. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of services.

Visitation will take place prior to the service from 12-2 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 also at Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Chenoa Public Library Building Fund or American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Weber was born July 21, 1928 in Gridley, the daughter of Raymond and Leda (McGill) Linder. She married Glenn E. Weber on March 30, 1947 in Morganfield, KY. Her husband preceded her in death December 23, 2002.Her parents, one brother, one sister, one infant son, one adult son and one grandchild also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Wesley (Patricia) Weber of Ashland, MO and one daughter, Ruth (Jeffrey) Michael of Roselle, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three brothers; Arthur, Vernie (Lida) and Henry (Betty) Linder.

Mrs. Weber enjoyed reading and gardening and was a faithful servant of Chenoa Baptist Church. Her love of reading led to 30 years as the Librarian and Director of the Chenoa Public Library.
