Woman dead after stabbing

BLOOMINGTON – A 30-year-old Bloomington woman is dead after she was found unresponsive with apparent stab wounds at a residence on North McLean Street Monday.

The woman was identified as Nicole M. Elbert. An investigation by police led to the arrest of Monroe A. Elbert for murder. Police reported Tuesday that formal charges by the McLean County State’s Attorney are pending.

An autopsy revealed Nicole died from multiple stab wounds while toxicology results are pending. The investigation continues by the Bloomington Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
