PONTIAC – Two people were hospitalized after a Livingston County Sheriff squad car struck another vehicle in Pontiac Sunday afternoon.

State Police say the squad, a 2017 Ford Explorer, entered into the intersection of East Howard and North Main streets and struck a 2006 Dodge Stratus driven by Cheryl L. Day, 55, of Pontiac. The driver of the squad has not been released, although the person’s age is listed as 36 in the State Police accident report.

Authorities say the squad car was traveling east on Howard Street while Day’s car was traveling south on Main. Day was cited for failure to yield to an authorized emergency vehicle and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital and there current conditions aren’t known. Police indicated Day was taken to OSF in Peoria.
