Wind farm hearing underway

A lengthy hearing on a proposed McLean County wind farm is underway.

The first night of the hearing was attended by over 100 people Tuesday (Jan. 2) and more testimony is expected on the proposal from Invenergy to build turbines in several different McLean County townships near Lexington and Chenoa.

Company officials say the project would create plenty of construction jobs and could power thousands of homes each year. The wind farm would cover around 13,000 acres. Invenergy representatives say property values would not decrease, claiming the area has some of the best wind in the state.
